The 750 Ducati Square Case SuperSport are among the rarest of all Ducati bevels manufactured. Only 100 750 SS’s were manufactured for 1977 and many of those were raced and have since disappeared or sadly, been parted out.

Since the 750 and the 900SS models were virtually the same, the 750SS was less popular at the time, with many of them being exported to Germany and Australia. This period-correct model is in pristine condition, and has been well maintained – the right buyer would be lucky to obtain this legendary machine.

Ducati designer Fabio Taglioni developed the 90-degree V-twin which is an important feature, even though it seems to take up a lot of room in the frame. The benefit it brings is excellent primary balance, which minimizes engine vibration—to the benefit of the rider comfort and the machine in terms of longevity.

750 SuperSports used the unique Tagilioni-designed desmodromic valve train that is shared among these variants of his 90-degree V-twin. The system eliminates valve springs by using a shaft-drive, bevel-gear mechanical linkage to close and open the valves. This enabled the Ducati V-twins to rev higher and last longer than a comparable bikes with valve springs by eliminating the possibility of valve spring breakage and valve “float” at high rpm.

This history-making Ducati performs well today as it did at the time of release – 65 horsepower at 8,500 rpm. It comes equipped with five speed transmissions and wet, multiplate clutches to deliver the horsepower to the rear wheel via metallic chain drive. It features a rigid frame, relatively long wheel base, advanced suspension and disc brakes that gave the bike superior road holding and handling.

Back in its’ day, those characteristics combined with relatively light weight made them more than competitive as race bikes against multi-cylinder opponents with more horsepower. Production of the SuperSports finished in 1981.

Other than a Staintune Exhaust - made in Australia - everything else on the motorcycle is completely original. It is currently registered under historic club plates in NSW, so new registration will have to be obtained – but will be sold with a NSW roadworthy certificate.
