The Ducati Sport 1000 Is a Retro Bike You Should’ve Bought New.

Following the 1970s trend for uncompromising individualism and enhanced performance, Ducati introduced the Sport 1000 S with a classic aerodynamic upper fairing which takes its styling cues directly from the “Race” models of the era.

It may be a two-seater, but the Sport 1000 S retains all the hallmark Café Racer styling, with the added benefit that you can enjoy its impressive performance either alone or two-up.

The new colour scheme retains the characteristic longitudinal white stripe, while offering red on red for the frame and fairing.

The spoked wheels with aluminum rims, the hub and the exhaust pipes are black, along with a number of other engine parts, for a stark contrast with the red frame and fairing. This contrast gives the new Sport 1000 S an attractive and decidedly aggressive look, without compromising its retro form and charm.

The Ducati Sport1000S had the front suspension of the Sport1000, while adding a retro styled fairing like the Paul Smart. The model could be equipped with Ducati original accessory lower fairings to create a late 1960s or early 1970s race bike look. The 1000S followed the Sport1000's change to a dual-shock swing arm and wet clutch, though lower handlebars were required to fit under the fairing. 2007-2008 models were available only in red with a white stripe.

Ducati is definitely up to something here with this sport classic motorcycle, which looks pretty much like its name says. Being a classic bike, you expect the 17-inch spoke wheels with black aluminium rims, but not the large diameter brake discs. Also, the 3.9 gallons tank features the right shape and size, and looks slick throughout, whilst the windscreen and headlight all stick to the era they take inspiration from. Truly exception design, all on a single bike.

To top this bike off, it has also been fitted with a black Termignoni Exhaust, has Rizoma Clutch cover/ levers/ reservoirs and a front sprocket cover. Full books, spare keys, alongside a full service history dating back to the date of purchase make this machine worth every cent.
