Ducati’s 916 was an instant classic as soon as it was shown to the world. Built for 5 years before evolving into the 996, this bike was one of Massimo Tamburini’s crowning achievements. Built as a fund-raiser for the late Ayrton Senna’s namesake foundation, Ducati took just their standard 916 two-seaters (known as biposto), and added carbon fiber in a few choice places – like the subframe, chain guard, clutch cover, front fender, exhaust pipe insulation panel, and mudguard.

You also got one of the coolest paint schemes to ever grace a Duc – metallic gray with red wheels, and a Senna decal. This specific Ducati 916 Senna is number 52 of 300 – one of the three series’ of production that made the total of approximately 1,000. First presented at the Bologna Motor Show in December 1994, the 916 Senna was a special edition to commemorate Formula 1 World Champion, Ayrton Senna, an avid Ducati enthusiast who endorsed its release shortly before his death in May 1994.

At the time, the project was facilitated by the fact that Claudio Castiglioni, Ducati's owner, was a personal friend of Senna's. In total, between 1995, 1998 and 2001, Ducati released three "Senna" editions and, in every instance, net proceeds were donated to the Instituto Ayrton Senna charity.

This Ducati Senna has been well looked after by the existing owner since new, with new tyres, battery and paint correction detail having been preformed to the body work. Wheels are in excellent condition with no chips or marks. Manufacturing number 52 of 300 world wide makes this machine a super rare categorised machine.
